Friday, May 21st is the last day for May book talks.
Please have students read each article out loud. When finished, please have them complete the questions on the back. Please underline where each answer was found in the articles. This is an important step in comprehension. Thank you.
Read 20 minutes every day. The only way to become a better reader is to read. No amount of worksheets can take the place of reading practice. When we have a Scholastic News, that will count as reading homework for those nights.
Students must have their book with them at all times. They will read the book in class, as well as at home, and discuss it with me during reading class.
Please make sure students are reading grade-level books. Junie B. Jones, Captain Underpants, and Magic Treehouse are not really going to help them become better readers. I will be happy to help with book choices if you or they need me. I will allow these and Mindcraft for the month of September ONLY. Thank you for your support in creating life-long, accomplished readers.
