Students will be learning reading strategies while reading various genre from our reading series (Treasures), picture books, chapter books, magazines, poetry, and nonfiction. During Language Arts students will be writing often during Writer's Workshop. Our English series will be used to learn our English rules and skills.

- Hands on practice
- Math fact practice and testing (addition and subtraction)
- Spiral reviewing
- Place Value
Throughout the week: Students' instruction will be a new Phonics skill each week. Spelling words will assess how well students are able to apply the skills learned. Therefore there will not be any spelling homework. However, I will list the spelling words on our newsletter each week for you to review the skill with your child, as well as have them listed on this website for reference.
Day three - A pretest will be administered to assesss progress with the words on day three of the weekly unit. These pretests will be sent home to review if needed. These are not taken as a grade.
Final Spelling assessment will be given on day five. Any child that earned a 100% will be given the bonus words only.
